For customers requiring backup on several servers, larger amounts of storage, data isolated from other users or more control over the administration of backup processes, Hostway offers the Continuous Data Protection Center. It's a dedicated server and storage solution that provides complete control over backup schedules and retention policies, access control and Web-based file or machine restore.

Hostway has partnered with R1Soft to offer the only Continuous Data Protection (CDP) solution for Linux server backups. R1Soft's CDP is a solution that enables disk-based data protection, Linux and Windows disaster recovery and Bare-Metal Restore for servers and workstations running Linux and Windows operating systems.

Restore servers directly from disk-based backup. Unlike traditional backup software, there is no need to first partition your drive and install the operating system.

Near-Continuous Backups
During normal host operation, the R1Soft CDP Agent keeps a journal of disk changes. Incremental backups know which sectors on the disk have changed before the backup operation even starts. This eliminates the need for file-by-file or block-by-block comparisons every backup.

Compression
Incremental sector-based backups ignore unused portions of the disk and copy only the disk sectors that have changed since the last backup. When used with traditional compression, this reduces backup storage by as much as 90% compared to a traditional system-wide, file-by-file backup.

End-to-end Strong Encryption
Data is continuously encrypted while in storage and during network transmission using RSA keys. Decryption during a restore is only possible when the encryption key holder enters their pass phrase.

Data Integrity
During backup and restore, data is verified using MD5 checksums.

The CDP Center can be utilized to backup your existing Hostway dedicated or collocated servers or to provide off-site backup to servers in your office, data center or third party location.

The server location can be optionally configured to provide an additional level of protection by separating the backup servers and disk storage from your core production servers.
