ISSUE 46 /// JULY 2005
Dear Valued Customer,
Keeping your employees in efficient communication in today’s
increasingly global workplace can be challenging even with cell phones,
email and fax machines. For small businesses, the most budget-friendly
way to stay in touch can be with an internal Web site, or intranet,
that makes it easy to share documents and general communication. Luckily,
you don’t have to have an in-house developer to make your intranet
a reality. With affordable plans like Hostway’s SharePoint,
you can make telecommutes seamless. We’ll tell you how SharePoint
can help better your business.
Enjoy!

“When I first launched www.newwoodworker.com in 2002, the 10,000
or so visitors it drew each month posed little problem to the server
I had at the time. As the site grew, so did problems with the server
and visitors were getting errors rather than viewing my site.
Since then I moved to Hostway and all those problems stopped. My visitors
have no trouble getting to my site and come back--often! NewWoodworker.com
now averages around 200,000 viewers per month and growing. Now, when
I get email from viewers it is not about not being able to see the
new content! "

Smart Tip: Choosing a Template for a SharePoint Site
Before creating a SharePoint site, you must choose a template.
The template choices included with the application include different
features so you can choose what works best for your specific needs;
or, you can use your own custom template.
To select a template follow these easy steps:
- Under Template,
select a template for your site. When you select a template, an
explanation of that template appears in the Select
a Template area.
The list may include:
- Team Site: A good choice for a wide variety
of purposes, this flexible Web site is pre-populated with
a variety of features for collaborating, sharing and publishing
information.
- Blank Site: Not pre-populated with tools,
this template is best if you plan to do most of the design
and customization of the site yourself.
- Document Workspace: Pre-populated with
tools related to document collaboration.
- Basic Meeting Workspace: Pre-populated
with tools related to meeting tasks.
- After you select your template, click OK
and your new site automatically opens in the browser, so you can
begin adding information to it.
If you have a question about your Web hosting account or a Hostway plan feature, write to and we might feature your question in the next customer newsletter.
