Do you want to create an email address?

To create an email address, log into SiteControl using the SiteControl customer ID and password that you received in your welcome email. Once you have logged into SiteControl, click the Email link in the left menu.

In the email area, scroll down to the Email Addresses section and click the link next to Create a new email address.

In the Create Email Address wizard:

1. Enter your email address in the New Email Address field
2. In the Please Select One Action section, select New Account and click the Add Action button

On the Add New User screen:

1. Enter your password twice(Hostway requires that you create a “strong” password for your accounts. A strong password uses 6-20 characters and must include at least one digit, but ideally it will be a combination of randomly selected characters. This makes it difficult for someone to guess your password and access your email.)
2. In the Account Type section, select Email
3. Click the Add button to complete this step.

That’s it! You have successfully created a new email address. You can repeat this process to add other addresses.

Do you want to setup your email software?

Email software lets you send and receive email messages. Some of the more commonly used email software is:

• Microsoft Outlook 2003
• Thunderbird
• Eudora
• Apple Mail — Mac Users

On Hostway’s email servers, your settings for your email software are:

• POP3 Server: pop.yourdomainname.com
• SMTP Server: smtp.yourdomainname.com
• Username: username@yourdomainname.com
  (You will want to use the full email address as the username)
• Password: <user defined>

Note: The option “My outgoing SMTP server requires authentication” should be enabled.

Do you want to upload your Web site?

To upload your Web site, you need to use a program that has file transfer protocol (FTP) capabilities.

Some common free FTP programs are:

• SmartFTP (Windows)
• Filezilla (Windows)
• Cyberduck (Mac)

Popular commercial Web design programs like Dreamweaver have “built-in” FTP capability. There is also a free Web design program with built-in FTP called NVU.

To upload your Web site, you need to connect your FTP program to your server by entering some information: Your domain name, FTP username and FTP password.

To locate your master account username and password, you need to log into SiteControl using the information from your welcome email.

Once you are in SiteControl, click the Users/Passwords link on the left-hand menu.

In the Users/Passwords section of SiteControl, scroll to the bottom and locate the Account Type: Master Account.

To the left of the words Master Account, you will see your master account username. This will be the FTP username that you enter into your FTP program.

To the right of the words Master Account, you will see a Change Password link. Click Change Password and enter a new password for the master account.

When you have entered the password twice, click the Change button.

The password you just entered will be the password you enter in your FTP program to upload your Web site.
