Senior Data Center and Facilities Engineer

Position Description:

The Senior Data Center and Facilities Engineer provides a safe, clean, organized data center environment while continually planning for growth by forecasting needs. Hostway is seeking a technically and mechanically minded individual to oversee data center facilities maintenance and expansion, including electrical, HVAC and security systems. In addition to working with the local lead staff, this individual will interface with facilities personnel in other company locations and with outside contractors and vendors. This individual will act as the interface between teams, local contractors and employees responsible for maintenance and operation of the facility (including mechanical and electrical systems and general management/maintenance of the building itself).

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating preventative maintenance on all environmental controls, electrical equipment, fire suppression systems, security systems and related facilities infrastructure.
  • Assist in maintaining a run book of procedures for natural disasters, fire and other possible risks associated with running an Internet data center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Work to develop and maintain a complete risk assessment inventory database that includes all systems within data centers.
  • Work closely with the other departments to develop and maintain a facilities plan for future growth and planned projects.
  • Maintain effective controlled access storage areas within our leased space.
  • Assist department heads with cubicle and office planning.
  • Solve problems using analytical, technical and organizational abilities.
  • Understand and document facilities infrastructure.
  • Monitor equipment (generator, breaker panels, etc).
  • Respond to facilities-based alerts and problems.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports.
  • Day-to-day facilities maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; a minimum of two years of college strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years experience in data center or commercial facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
  • An undergraduate degree in an appropriate technical field.
  • A good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment including feeders, generators, PDUs, cooling systems and UPS systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IT.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and manage one's time effectively.
  • Exceptional oral and written English communication skills are a definite requirement along with excellent computer skills and Internet proficiency.
  • Ability to effectively deal with change and ambiguity.
  • Ability to continually learn new technologies.
  • Must be able to use common tools to perform needed facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Available for on-call duties as necessary

Sales Executive, Private Label Sales

Position Purpose:

Utilizing a consultative selling approach, sell Hostway’s web hosting platform and associated products (e-commerce, web design, email, MS Exchange, Hosted SharePoint and data back-up services) to large enterprises — primarily in a private label model — who will then resale these products to their own small business customer base. Will be responsible for prospecting new clients, understanding client's needs, goals, and objectives, and managing their pipeline.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to close sales and generate/close leads via business development
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals as assigned by management
  • Outbound follow-up sales calls to sales pipelines and other assigned channels.
  • Maintain a current understanding of Hostway’s product offerings
  • Order tracking and database management through Hostway’s customer management system
  • Assist prospects by analyzing their needs, recommending solutions and providing formal proposals. Traditional private label markets have included broadband (telecom and cable), big box retailers, professional associations, financial institutions, and ISP’s.
  • An overall understanding of relationship selling and the importance of up selling higher revenue opportunities.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree
  • 5 -10 years previous sales experience selling services to enterprises
  • Telecom, cable, or financial markets industry experience desired
  • Private label and wholesale sales experience preferred
  • Solution selling experience in complex and extended sales cycles

Position Description:

The data center technician provides a safe, clean, organized and reliable office space and data center environment while continually planning for growth by forecasting needs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer day-to-day responsibilities of the inventory system
    • Order new parts
    • Track parts from vendors
    • Enter parts into inventory
    • Track parts into service
    • Ship and receive packages
    • Keep levels of stock up to date
  • Build, test, image, deploy and decommission various servers
    • Configure physical servers to customer specifications
    • Install OS based on customer needs using various methods including FAI, Kickstart, RIS and CD
    • Physically install server into rack and attach it to the network
  • Troubleshoot hardware related issues
  • Troubleshoot basic software-related issues
  • Install copper and fiber cabling as needed
